Why parents book it

You are not buying a sports class. You are buying back your Saturday.

Every family in Tampa has the same weekend problem: the kids are climbing the walls by 11am and nothing on your list gets done. This is the trade.

Why Jump Start

Not a babysitter. A coaching staff.

Tampa has plenty of drop-off options. Here's what separates a Weekend Series Saturday from a generic play gym or open rec time.

01

Real coaches, not childcare staff

Every station is run by a trained coach teaching an actual skill — not a supervisor watching kids free-play.

02

Small groups, split by age

Age groups run separately, so a younger kid isn't chasing older kids around the gym all morning.

03

Indoor, climate-controlled, rain-proof

Tampa Premier Sports Institute. A pop-up thunderstorm doesn't cancel your Saturday plans.

04

No season, no contract

Book one Saturday or all nine. Skip the weekend you're traveling. Nothing auto-renews.

05

Multi-sport, not single-sport

Soccer, basketball, T-ball, pickleball, floor hockey, football and relays in one morning — kids find what they're good at instead of being locked into one sport at age 4.

06

Backed by a Tampa camp operator

Run by the team behind Jump Start Sports' year-round camps and programs — this isn't a first-time pop-up.

Austin Zieg, owner of Jump Start Sports Tampa

Who's coaching

Austin Zieg has professional sports experience

Austin, the owner of Jump Start Sports Tampa, spent 5 years with the New York Yankees organization as Assistant, Player Development before bringing Jump Start Sports to Tampa. He runs the same fundamentals — footwork, hand-eye coordination, teamwork — scaled down for ages 3–8.

Translation: your kid isn't getting a college-kid babysitter watching the clock. They're getting real coaching, structured skill work, and games run with actual intention — just early, and still fun.

Pricing

One price. Every Saturday. No math.

No punch cards, no "book more to save." Every session is the same price, whether it's your first Saturday or your ninth.

$75per Saturday
  • Free T-shirt and medal included
  • Same price every date, every month
  • No minimum sessions, no expiring credits
  • Coaches and equipment included

Three coached hours works out to about $25 an hour for indoor, drop-off care. A sitter in Tampa runs more than that — and doesn't teach them to dribble.

9am to noon

How the three hours actually run

Kids are split into age groups so nobody is bored and nobody is overwhelmed.

  1. Check-in & free play

Curbside drop-off, wristband on, kids ease in with free play while everyone arrives.

  2. Warm-up & ice breakers

Group games to get everyone moving and meeting their squad for the day.

  3. Multi-sport skill rotations

Soccer, basketball, T-ball, pickleball/tennis, floor hockey, football and agility ladders — every kid rotates through and touches every station.

  4. Cool down & group leadership discussion

A breather with water, and a coach-led talk on teamwork and leadership — not just physical, mental too.

  5. Epic games block

The part they'll tell you about in the car — Color Clash, relays, Camp Olympics, whatever that week's theme is.

  6. Mini games & scrimmages

Putting the day's skills to work in low-pressure, high-fun scrimmages.

  7. Awards & parent pickup

Every kid gets recognized. Come a few minutes early if you want to watch the last round.

We had such a wonderful experience with Jump Start Sports! Austin and all of the coaches did an amazing job of meeting each child exactly where they were at. Whether a child was shy and hesitant to participate or full of energy and ready to go, they found a way to connect with them, engage them, and encourage them to interact.

We absolutely LOVE Jump Start Sports! My son, Hudson, can sometimes be hesitant in a new situation but Austin was amazing at making him feel welcomed and comfortable. He had a few other staff members helping as well and they all did such a great job at making sure every kiddo was having fun! We love the variety of sports offered/different theming for the classes. You could come every week and still experience something new and exciting which is great for little ones.

We took our son for the free trial class and he had a great time playing all kinds of different sports and games with coach Austin. If we lived closer to the facility we would have signed our son up. It's a great weekend option to get your kids off the screen and out playing and getting exercise.

Before you book

The questions we get every week

Is this really drop-off?

Yes. Check your child in at 9am and come back at noon. You're welcome to stay, but most parents don't.

My kid has never played sports. Will they be lost?

No. Groups are split by age and every station is taught from zero. Most kids here are trying half these sports for the first time.

Do I have to sign up for the whole series?

No. Every Saturday is booked and priced on its own at $75. Come to one, come to all nine, skip the weekends you're out of town — the price never changes either way.

What do I send them with?

Sneakers and a labeled water bottle. We bring every ball, cone, and piece of equipment.

What if it rains?

Everything runs indoors at Tampa Premier Sports Institute. Weather doesn't cancel us.
